I hadn’t thought anything about changing into another dress…well, at all. Until today. I thought that the dress I bought for the big day would be the dress I wore all night. It’s the dress we dream of our whole lives. Anyways, Today FI asked me if I was getting another dress for the reception. I was a little surprised but I wasn’t going to turn it down! I just told him I would think about it.
I can’t decide if I want another dress or not. It would be fun to have a more funky fresh dress for the reception but I’m not sure what I’d like to do.
So pros and cons? Any pretty dresses you’d like to share?

Pro- You can change into a less heavy/hot/cumbersome dress and dance better. But ultimately the biggest con for me is that I want to spend as much time as possible that night in the dress I get MARRIED in. You only get the chance to wear a wedding gown once, and you can wear a party dress any old time. I’m going to SLEEP with my darn wedding dress on.

Pro- a more comfortable dress to party in
Con- I feel like your wedding dress is THE dress, and I would want to keep mine on the entire night!

Ladies who have reception dresses, where did you find them?

I got mine at weddingshoppeinc.com, I actually went to the brick and mortar store in MN. I just love my reception dress and am hoping that a new seamstress can fix it, it was the first dress I fell in love with.

CON: If you love your dress, you only get to wear it for a couple hours. Ever.

- You get to buy two dresses for one event.
- You don’t have to lug a heavy dress around all night.
- You can have two different styles, ie: princessy and then more modern.
- You have to pay for two dresses for one event :P.
- It’s your wedding dress! You already only get it for a few hours.
That’s all I can think of!

Cons – you have to pay for two dresses, and you don’t get to wear THE dress for very long.

Jo.lee summed it up perfectly. I didn’t want to take my dress off even at the end of the night. I might have done something different if we had had an organized after-party. However, we just hung out at the hotel bar for an hour or two so not worth it.

@ohheavenlyday: I feel that way too! I keep telling all my relatives, I don’t care how hot it is, how heavy my dress is, etc etc, I WILL WEAR IT MY ENTIRE WEDDING DAY! lol. No reception dress for me, although I do think they are adorable.
