I’m hoping someone (pro or otherwise) is better educated than me about the paper for my album. I’m ordering from Photobook Canada. I’m using their Pro Series album and I have three options for paper (I’m really just debating between the first two):
216gsm Silk Paper – The smooth and soft feel of the silk paper provides a slender and professional sheen across your images. Suitable for large photo books.
190 gsm Photo Lustre Paper- The Photo Lustre paper features satin-matte PE-coated surface giving each page the look and feel of a genuine photo print. Features include brilliant colours, depth of contrast, low reflection, smudge repellent and outstanding image permanence.
170 gsm Matte textured – A premium canvas-like paper, the matte textured paper imparts a memorable touch and is sure to enhance each of your images. (I don’t think I want this one)
Any advice? The book is a 12×12 and 200+ pages (yikes, I know!).

I’m not a pro, but I’ve made photo books from Photobook America (Canada). I liked the 190 gsm Photo Lustre Paper myself. Photobookgirl compares the 216 gsm (matte) vs the 190 gsm (luster) paper here: http://www.photobookgirl.com/blog/photobook-america-canada-photo-lustre-paper-review/
Also, for what it’s worth, I could never figure out the real difference is between the “Pro Series” photobooks and the normal photobooks – with the exception of cover stamping vs debossed photo cover and the largers sizes. When I did my books the 11×11 debossed cover was substantially less expensive than the 12×12 pro series.
Oh, and you probably already are aware of this, but there are always Groupons for Photobook America/Canada. You can’t use the groupons with the sale pricing, and sometimes the sales price works out better than the groupon. But here’s one now: http://www.groupon.com/deals/photobook-canada-st-johns-2?utm_medium=afl&utm_campaign=3913921&utm_source=rvs

@reebee: Thanks for that link! We decided to do the 12×12 so it would match our guestbook and I really like the leather cover for our proper wedding album. I have a bunch of Groupons I’m using, but actually the 40% discount code they’re offering on their website right now saves us $200 over what the groupon did!! Holy cow!!
I’m still a little torn about the paper type…

@USER876: Unfortunately I’m a huge procastinator and the coupon code I have is about to expire, so I have to get these done and ordered ASAP! I went with the heaviest stock paper, I’m sure it’ll be fine.
