I am currently a student photographer for the advertising dept at my University, and I’m generally hoping to land the same gig but essential my boss’s job elsewhere after I graduate next year. What would you recommend as a replacement body, I currently have a Nikon D3100 so i am looking for something to be my main rig and intend to use the d3100 as a back up. All of my lenses are nikon so I am really looking to stay with nikon at this time. Suggestions? Advice?

I’d go for the D7000, at least it has the autofocus motor built in so you can use all the lenses nikon has to offer.

I just got the D700 and I’m in absolute love! However I believe that the D800 is coming out soon so I have heard of alot of photographers selling their D700, buying the D7000 and using that until the 800 comes out. I’ve also heard its about 4 grand. I have heard amazing things about the 7000. It all depends on if you want an full frame or not.

I wouldn’t want the D800 because it’s rumored to be 36MP. I would need to double my storage needs and honestly don’t need that type of resolution (not sure who really does).
