    Hi!  Brand-new Bee poster here...

Would like to get some feedback on ceremony and reception locations?  I've found my reception venue in Laguna Beach although I still need to find a Catholic Church for my ceremony.  Is it a must to have the church location be near the reception venue?  I'd like to have the ceremony in my neighborhood catholic church in Walnut but I'm concerned about the distance from this to Laguna Beach.  Is it unrealistic for me to expect that my guests will travel to Walnut first and then to So. OC for the reception?  Thoughts are appreciated!

    Hi Allets!

I have my Catholic ceremony in Laguna Niguel, and then my reception is in Huntington Beach.  It's about a 30-45 minute drive, but there's also a 3 hour gap in between.  I'm a little unsure of the distance between Walnut and Laguna Beach, any possibility of maybe having your ceremony closer to Laguna Beach?

Where do most of your guests live? If they already live in Walnut then it's not too much to ask. Plus, there will be a time gap between the mass and the reception start time.  I think if the distance can be kept under an hour your good. More than an hour and you're probably going to have less guests at your mass.

My church is 20 minutes to the reception venue.. but with traffic and all (on a Friday rush hour) I think it will be around 45 minutes. Im only inviting family and closest friends. I think if it's a small-ish wedding with really close kin they wouldn't mind the drive and wait.

My ceremony and reception hall were about 45 minutes apart.  I had a gap between the wedding and reception, some people went to the bar, some went home and changed.

All in all, no one complained to me about the distance.
