Please go to the store and try dresses on. You will find one you love. I saved time by researching the designers the stores carried and calling ahead of time to ask if they have that particular style and in what size.
As for styles, personally I found these to be flattering: a-line, empire waist, asymmetrical waist and ones with the princess v thing in front. Also, I found dresses with a slight sweetheart (super easy for a seamstress to add later) were flattering.
I'm plus sized and I went to Davids Bridal and tried on 10 dresses if not more. Go to the store and see what looks good on you...i'm buying one online though just because i love it and can't get it out of my head and need to try it on to make sure it isn't the one
@johnitta...I would highly recommend scheduling an appt at David's Bridal. Even if you don't buy from there, they have a variety of wedding dresses in plus sizes and it will give you an idea of what you like and how certain styles will look on your figure. Also, you can get your measurements done by the seamstress there so if you decide to order online, you know what size you will need.

With my wedding being less than 5 months away, I'm still in search for a wedding dress. Because I'm a plus size bride, it's been hard for me to find a fabulously, gorgeous wedding dress!
I've visited several bridal shops and many of them only have 3 or 4 plus size dresses for me to try on! And the dresses they have are so ugly or old-fashioned that I can't even imagine what I'd look like in my dream gown!
As I search online, I have to imagine myself in a dress being modeled by a size 6 model!
I have a few questions:
What's the difference between ordering a dress from a bridal shop as oppose to ordering the dress online?
Has anyone had any experience with buying bridal gowns online?
What type dresses look good on plus size brides? (I'm thinking strapless, mermaid with drapes all over!)
