This is the equivalent of Watergate in the photography community.  People are freaking out about it, rightly so.  While her official responses have been apologetic and regretful she is not issuing refunds thus far to her clients that have hired her and feel duped and deceived.

Her personal facebook page is still up, and she is apologizing and calling each person that she copied from to talk with them.  I think it takes guts to do that instead of dissappearing like many would do.  I know what she did was not right for sure, but I commend her for trying to talk with those she stole from.

She should be taken to court, and should repay each client. Each client paid for a professional photographer and she is clearly not one. Each client paid based on the fact that she had experience, which she did not.

@eagle:  I don’t think that’s something to LOL about…

Our wedding is four months out and my fiance just called me in tears.  I am deployed to Afghanistan for a year and have been helping my fiance plan for our wedding in Sept.  Here is the e-mail Megan sent us.  I am glad that she had the guts to send this out 4 months before our wedding and not four days.

I hope this email reaches you well.  I have been trying to get in touch with you, but I think I have the wrong number.  I’m sorry it has taken me so long to reach you!  I wanted to let you know that I am stepping down from my photography business for the time being.  I made a stupid mistake which I regret, so I am taking a hiatus and focusing my attention on my girls and my family.

I wanted to let you know that you are entitled to a refund of your retainer fee, OR I can refer you to other photographers who will apply the retainer fee you have already paid towards another package with a different photographer.  If you are interested in the latter option, let me know and I will get you a list of the photographers that will work with you on that. They are wonderful photographers and I would hire them to shoot my own wedding (if I were getting married). If you’d just like to get a refund on your retainer fee, that is fine, and I will get it to you as soon as I possibly can (will probably be 1-2 months).  I’m not going to be one of those photographers who closes shop, moves out of town, and takes your money.  That is not in my character and I want to ensure you that you will be taken care of.

I’m sorry this isn’t the news you were expecting to get.  If you have any questions at all or if you’d like to chat, feel free to call me.

I wish you the best and pray God’s blessings on your marriage.

Thank you,Meagan

@jonnylewis76:  I really do not think it appropriate for you to be posting her phone number or email…or any of her personal information.

There are a lot of ‘cuckoo’ people out there…
