Thanks for the tip, Scissors/Fifty! Wish I was a good enough cook to even try to register for WS! I'm more of an appetizer platter type of girl...
Thanks! Good to know. We will definitely be registering for some stainless steel All-Clad pans. We have a single large frying pan of theirs right now, and we would like to round out our collection.
No problemo!
We deleted the All-Clad off of our registry and are patiently waiting to put the new stuff on. :p At least we have our rainbow collection of Le C on there! :p
Aww damn, we registered for and got a ton of stuff for our wedding. So now it's only a year old, so there's no way we'll be getting the better stuff anytime soon :(
The 3-layer stuff is still bananas awesome, so don't worry about it. I just didn't want people to end up with weird half-sets of both.
Hey, it might be worth it to see if there are any great sales on this stuff! All-Clad is my favorite cookware (though I tend toward the LTD set), and if you can get a deep discount you can get some awesome cookware!!
have you seen the new stuff go up yet? i hate keeping track of these registries so thanks for the heads up!
Hm... no indication at Macy's of how many layers. :( Wonder which ones we'll be getting?
just got them, they are called d5. someone already got us our set, but i also registered for the individual items, so i guess we'll just switch them out when i actually the set! yay for presents!
Isn't five layers going to make them insanely heavy? I can barely lift the three-layer pots when they're full as it is. At least this should make three-layer pots cheaper, I guess. I'll probably be snapping up a few more of those.
Actually, the d3 line is only not being sold at WS, and the d5 is an exclusive at WS. So other stores will continue with the d3 and only WS will sell the d5. FH and I were shopping last night and this is what the All Clad representative at Macy's told us.
Does anybody find that the All Clad handles seem uncomfortable? We heard great things about it and am still tempted to register for it, but the handles were the bad thing for us. I wounder if the new ones will have different handles?

Hokay so.
Today we went to Williams Sonoma for registry land, and we got some super awesome insider info. The All-Clad stainless cookware, the 3-layer (not copper) core stuff, is being discontinued, and WS will stop carrying it December 26. (I assume it is a blanket for all All-Clad sellers). Starting then, they're replacing it with a 5-layer that is much better- rounded edges for better pouring, better heating, etc.
But, my big point is that those registered or about to register... you might want to remove the old stuff and re-add the new stuff on Dec. 26th.
