I'm kind of thinking of buying it in another color now since the price is right!!
Ok, I think they're really cute and would love one for rehearsal, BUT I've never had a J. Crew dress, and I've recently lost 40lbs, so I have no idea what size I need. We don't have a store nearby at all. Do you consider them to run small, or large? I wear a 10 in dresses from the Dress Barn if THAT helps, lol.
I bought the Sophia silk chiffon gown as my wedding gown and later returned it simply because I found a great deal on the J. Crew Sabine, which was my original fave but more than I wanted to spend.
I personally found the dress to run large in the chiffon. I am normally a size 4 and their 4 hung very loosely on me; I purchased a 2 and it was pretty comfortable. I am definitely not well-endowed (A cup), and it hung on me in the chest area.
I would recommend ordering one size down or at the very least your true street size. I know dresses usually run smaller than your normal size, but that's not the case with this gown.
I feel like mine (in silk tricotine) fit fairly true to size overall, with the bust area being maybe a little bigger than the size average. I have a larger bust, and even still, I felt the bust area was a little big on me. I had a seamstress shorten the straps a little and tack the front crossover pieces together so they wouldn't gap. Hope that helps.
Ooh I have one of these from when I was a bridesmaid (and paid $250 for it!!!!!!!!!!) - it's a great dress and very versatile. They have very specific measurements on their sizing chart and I found it to be true to size. It fits me perfectly in every way because I checked my measurements with their chart before ordering - never tried it on.

For any ladies thinking of the J Crew Sophia for their bridesmaids (or who need a dress of their own), certain colors in the silk tricotine and silk chiffon are now available for under $60! I wore this dress in red as a bridesmaid a few years ago and it is beautiful.
