Oh good grief, I’m ducking for cover now because I know this thread is going to blow up! Surprised

@sulaii211: I could be wrong but threads that mention grammar mistakes (regardless of whether the tone is snarky or not) tend to take on a life of their own.  FYI – This is one of my pet peeve mistakes also!  It drives me bonkers to read, “I need to loose 5 pounds!”

While we are at it…

If you are talking about yourself and you say “I”, you should always capitalize it. This is my grammer peeve that I see on the boards all the time.

hee hee!  thanks for the PSA.  grammar on the internet is interesting.  my grammar is pretty good and i use the rules at work.  on the boards, not so much.  for example, i know that “I” should be capitalized, i don’t do it here but do it on work emails, etc. so i may appear grammatically inept on the boards when, in fact, i’m not.  it just my way of letting my hair down.  but while we are on the topic, one thing i notice often is the misuse of “loss/lost.”  As in “i’m sorry for your lost.”

I think people are just typing too quickly, and two “o”s come out instead of one. I think this is pretty minor. The “they’re” and “you’re” version mistakes are clearly bad, but I really do think this doesn’t need a whole thread devoted to pointing out people’s mistakes.

You know what i think urks me the most??  People who spell “congrats” congrads.  I also do the same as jjilyeah with not capitalizing the i. And informally, I spell probably prolly, i guess just cuz that’s how i say it 🙂

@MrsSl82be: that’s exactly it.  i consider boards “informal,” so i don’t exhibit the utmost care with my grammar.  i, also, write like i speak.

@MrsSl82be: I’ve seen congradulations on WB too!
