haha that is sooo true!! It also smells and you can just see the dirt all over it!
I'm semi-ocd about stuff...I hate touching doors and carts after someone else. I usually try to sneak in and thank goodness for the wipes at the supermarkets now! I get so sad when they are all.
That definitely gets put in the category: They don't pay me enough to do this!
Gross!!!
Ugh, I know! I was a cashier at DSW, and I hated handling the cash! You can just feel the germs.
Although dealing with shoes people have tried on with their disgusting feet and the footies they use and deposit on the floor is worse.
It was so gross - I work at a bank doing teller and customer service stuff - and this lady stood right in front of me and counted her twenty 20s (say that ten - or twenty - times fast) and licked her darn finger after every five. Then proceeds to hand it to me. I never wanted to use hand sanitizer so much in my life!
@Sanddollar - It does smell - and they say that every bill has traces of feces, drugs, and dirt on it - I've gotten bloody bills before - can we say gross? It's good to be semi-OCD about stuff. Seriously. My Aunt and Uncle have both had cancer and gone through chemo/radiation/all that good stuff - and they wash their hands and everything they're about to touch like mad! They don't get sick though even with their immune systems so weakened!
@lilyfaith - eww. That does not sound like fun ... not at all. I hate feet. I love shoes, but I really hate feet. Gross Gross Gross.
I would freak....blood on your bills?! Soooooooooooo gross...haha I wonder if I've gone to your bank
Hahaha! No wonder there are so many flu's and diseases - people can be SO gross! It's amazing how many germs you can prevent the spread of if you just KEEP YOUR FINGERS OUT OF YOUR MOUTH! Hey - I say that to my 3 year old all the time!
yuck! I'm a cashier, and we have hand sanitizer by every register. I hate using it too often because it really dries out my hands, but there are definite times when I feel super gross after handling all that cash and stuff.
Um... think about where people stash their money? In their socks, in their shoes, in their bras... God knows where else.
Money is disgusting. I think we should just do away w/ paper money & coins.
When I was 15 I worked at the movie theater and this NASTY man picked his teeth with a ten dollar bill and wanted to hand it to me. Oh no sir! I had to get the manager on that one and I quit the next day! Just plain rudeness!!!
@ Sanddollar - probably not, I work at a bank in Chester County - we have a branch in Mountville, though!
@proudpeacockbride - It's funny, people seem to forget that the things that they think are so gross that little kids do aren't applicable to their lives anymore, like picking their noses ...
@melodicsighs1 - bath and body works has really good moisturizing hand sanitizer that may help your hands from getting all dry.
@Recessionista Bride - PRECISELY - ever though about maybe your $1 bill may have just touched a strippers a$$?!?!!
@chaoticbliss - he picked his teeth with it? Oh no ... that's just disgusting.
ew ew ew yes! I am a manager and I have to count down the drawers each night/morning and I have to wash my hands RIGHT after :)
That's so disgusting! I also hate when people cough all over their hands and then want to hand me their money. Ewwww! I can never wash my hands fast enough...which sucks becuase I usually have a huge line.
I remember reading once all of the nastyness that is on money. I recall the following: feces, cocaine, semen and blood those were the heavy hitters......ew
ew I put in my time in foodservice and it drove me nuts!
One of my fellow managers wore gloves to count the money. I used to tease him about it, but my foot went in my mouth after a few months, and hand sanitizer was always in my backpack nearby.
I find it equally disgusting when women (especially those in revealing tops) stick their hands down their shirt, especially when I work the drive thru window with a few teenage boys under my direction...
I'm gaging just reading this thread! I hate when I hand people their money back, and they touch my hand. I don't know where they've been!
I am kind of a germ-phobe so I hate touching money or change. I ALWAYS use my hand sanitizer after I do it. I recently saw an article where they tested various everyday items and the buttons at the ATM actually had eColi on them! Yuck!
Um, after reading this, I'M going to start wearing gloves. Blech.
Thank god for debit cards.
Germs don't freak me out that much. I mean, I wash my hands. I have always been of the belief that exposure to the nastiest of germs builds up your immune system and make you healthier. I won't be licking a dollar bill anytime soon, but I am not stressed out about exposure to stuff. I can't avoid germs entirely, so I at least want my body to be prepared when the bad ones do hit.
Money is dirty but I still like the smell of it! If I can smell money, it means it's in my hands ;)
I really don't like touching the pin pads when you use your debit card (or the pens that touch the pin pads). Imagine how many people touch that in a day!
I used to be a bank teller and I once had a lady hand me a sweaty $20 dollar bill out of her bra. Now I work in a lab with tumors, human cell lines and untested pharmaceutical products, I feel like I am "less exposed" here than I was in the bank! I wear gloves all the time and I never leave the lab without washing my hands.
My Mom was just telling me last week about a cashier at Sam's Club. He sneezed into his hands right before checking her out and she tried to remember where he touched each of her items so that she could avoid touching the same place when she was loading the car. People are SO gross sometimes.
Confession: I carry clorox wipes in my purse!
@DaisyBride: Our of her bra?! So. Sick.
I'm amazed all the time at my work of how many people do not wash their hands after using the bathroom. It's disgusting!
Kind of off topic but yesterday I was helping someone at my desk and he just started hacking and coughing away in my face. He didn't even try to cover his mouth or anything and I really had to try hard not to make a disgusted face at him. Not sure if I was successful or not. Ew.
Eww @hcritton - in your face? Dude - turn the heck around ... people act like it's sooo hard to cover their mouths/noses with their elbows or something. Or ask for a darn tissue. Or wash their hands after wiping their butts! Oy!
I had a college roommate that put EVERYTHING in her bra...cell phone, camera, money, pens, lighter, cigs...you name it, it went in there.
I found so much wrong with that and it was very gross. She was well equiped but still lost stuff in them all the time. Seriously it wouldn't have killed her to carry a purse more often and to not use her boobs as one!
Isn't it true that there's a ridiculous amount of cocaine on most of the cash in this country? That's even more of a deterrent to hand-mouth-money contact.
Personally I think it's a bit grosser that they were LICKING THEIR FINGERS after touching money (which is very VERY dirty, yes). Then again, I'm a nursing student so bodily fluids are "eh" to me, and saliva is just not one of the ones that concerns me, not to mention that the amount that gets transferred to the bills when someone licks their finger is minimal. : )

So please don't lick your fingers before touching it.
And especially not before touching it so you can count it and hand it to me, at your favorite bank, to count again and touch your slobber.
It's gross.
Thanks.
