This made me laugh, because the first time that I tried to use the bathroom, during our cocktail hour, I had our photographer help me.  But I swear - she offered!  We agreed while we were in the bathroom that we were officially friends, and it also resulted in this classy shot:

Yeah... Getting married in a public park did not ensure nice bathrooms.  Oh well.

Lol as a girl with a small bladder THANKS! This will inevitably come in handy on my big day. Although I'm not bashful.. you better believe my cousin will have to help me on bathroom visits. She's 8 years older than me and changed my diapers as a kid.. I'm pretty sure she can help me go to the bathroom on my big day. After all, isn't that one of the bridesmaid's duties, jk Wink

@Miss Paris: that is the best story ever! Although I can imagine it being horrific for your sister.

This is awesome! I had to pee three times during my wedding and twice I had to have a BM hold up my dress and the third time my childhood friend - all these of these girls were married last year so they were fine with it.

    BRILLIANT!

Although I must say I'm glad that, because our reception is in a hotel restaurant, I will have my own big hotel suite bathroom right upstairs that I can use!

I love this post... I solved this problem by being completely dehydrated during our wedding, and having no time to eat or drink anything... Voila!  Dehydration and no bathroom problems!

that is such a random, hilarious, and completely useful piece of advice!  I have a relatively easy dress, but i haven't tried wearing it all day yet.  I'll tuck this info away, just in case!!

    CONGRATS on the recent nuptials!

I totally and completely forgot to pee while at my wedding. It's a good thing, because I had already realized that if I had to pee while in the dress, I'd have to take it off to be able to so do so!

i have a small bladder but i will have my own personal bathroom to use and my dress won't be that big. i have no problem asking for help however and because of the aforementioned small bladder, i will (and have) peed anywhere. but that's a story for another day.

@sparkle - It wasn't that bad, what was really funny was when she realized what happened and yelled "Jesus F*ing Christ Mom!", I'm pretty sure they heard her throughout the church...But we just patted her train dry and then it was time to walk down the aisle and she forgot all about it :)

Ha ha!  That's a fantastic PSA!  I would have just gone in the outhouse (they had just been delivered and were perfectly clean after all) but my mom and sisters vetoed.  So I popped a squat behind a bush right before the ceremony.  One of my bridesmaids held my train but I probably could have managed without.  Fortunately I didn't have to go for the rest of the night!

imLissy, I think it would work for #2 if you just leaned back instead of forward.  Fortunately, though, I did not have to attempt that one at my own wedding.

Melissabegins, thanks!  The wedding was wonderful; I've posted a recap at this link.

hopefully not TMI, but I have digestive issues, and this was a major concern for me!  I ended up falling in love w/ a dress that was easily taken on and off, and I didn't use the optional button loops (they weren't fabric and didn't really make a difference)

luckily, I went RIGHT before I put on my dress then didn't go again until I changed into my getaway dress (a little early)  granted, I was probably slightly dehydrated!

Funny and educational.  I always thought my BM's would help me.  That's what they are there for, right?

    ___

LOL!!! thats why they call them BM's right? :)

That's brilliant. I will have two BMs on hand as well if assistance is needed...we became close in college and I have no shame about asking them to come in to help me!

Actually, one of the things that motivated me to write this was seeing someone who said she wanted to have a male friend as her MOH, but her FI told her she couldn't because then she would have no one to hold the dress when she peed.

I didn't have to do this, I just waited until after my dress was bustled and sat on the toilet like normal.

I actually didn't have to pee at all once I had my dress on.  Which is so surprising, because I usually have to go all.the.time.
