@Sarie415:  Commenting to follow. We are going to have our DW in Punta Cana at the Dreams La Romana! I would love to see if anyone has any feedback on this resort!

I’m actually mid-air on a flight to Punta Cana right now (gotta love in air wifi!). My DH is already there for work, and I’m flying to meet up with him. We never stay in resorts so I can’t really comment on that – but I’ve been hearing a ton of great things about the Hard Rock Punta Cana. We usually stay at Marina’s because of his job – but we’ve got a house rented within the marina golf resort compound for the duration of my stay.

@starfish0116:  WE went to Punta Cana for our honeymoon, and we stayed at the Sanctuary Cap Cana. I cannot rave enough about this resort. It was absolutely phenomenal, the grounds are breathtakingly beautiful, they have several different room styles available depending on your budget (all are oceanview, we just had the most basic room but it suited our needs). It is definitely geared towards couples, the food is very good, which sometimes is hard to come by in all inclusives, the service was awesome, has a small private beach, and there is also a large ‘public’ beach less than 5 minutes walking, although its in a gated community, so it’s not really typical public.

Its definitely not a party type resort, there is no ‘disco’, just a lounge that is open until 1am, so if you are looking to be up all night partying, it’s probably not for you, but if you are looking for romance definitely check it out!! Here are some photos from our honeymoon for example 🙂

We went to Punta Cana for our honeymoon and loved it.  We stayed at the Hard Rock Resort (it was gifted to us).  I wouldn’t necessarily rave about the hard rock but it was fine.  It was too big if you ask me, we had to take a shuttle to get around and that shuttle took forever sometimes.  One morning we almost missed our excursion bc the shuttle never came!!!  Another guest had to literally flag down some workers in a golf cart to give us all a ride up to the lobby area.

The golf course was nice and we enjoyed the variety of restaurants as well as the casino and sports book.

We got very lucky that our room was way up front close to the beach and a pool. We loved Punta Cana, seriously the most beautiful place I’ve ever been (and I’ve been to hawaii).  I’d love to go back and try a different resort!!!

We stayed at the Majestic Elegance a few years ago (all inclusive resort) and it was awesome! We stayed in a junior suite and it had both a private patio with a jetted tub and another separate balcony! The room was huge and modern with nice marble floors, flatscreen TV and had another large jetted bathtub inside. So that’s two jetted tubs! Like a lot of resorts they offer lots of entertainment (kind of corny), but we just loved that we were right in front of the beach and you can walk endlessesly. Their pools were great as well. Pretty nice staff, food pretty good but not mind blowing, clean. We really liked that if you had a junior suite, you had access to the business center with lots of computers with free wi-fi, snacks/fruit, couches, large TVs (great if your guy wants to watch any games). The resort itself is huge..we got approached on the beach if we wanted to have professional pictures taken, and we figured why not….they were great. Pricy, but we’ll always have them.

@Sarie415:  i second (or third) the majestic along with @CTbride2010:  and @Seattlegrl:

i went there a few years ago when it was still fairly new and i was thoroughly impressed.  i have stayed at a number of hotels in punta cana and this is the one that i would definitely go back to.

i would personally take the ocean view over the swim up.  it’s not really a swim up to your room like some resorts, you have to walk over the lawn to get to your room.

the upgrade to club is a great treat for your honeymoon.  private club, 24hr room service, etc.  so worth it.

@Sarie415:  The Elegance Club–THAT’S what it was called! It’s been so long I was trying to remember what they called it. I would highly recommend upgrading to the club like we did since we definitely felt the perks- your own business center, better rooms, close to the water, etc. I also vote for the oceanview rather than the swim up.

@Sarie415:  We did Excellence in January. It was awesome. We upgraded to the Excellence Club (VIP service) and a jr swim up suite. The Excellence Club is absolutely worth it – the swim up suite, take it or leave it.

We are not huge partiers but Excellence is a bit quieter/older crowd it seemed. There is a “disco” but we didn’t go. We were exhausted and usually crashed out in the room early. But the food was awesome, drinks were great, service was fantastic…we absolutely loved it. We also did a ziplining excursion which was fun!

We booked through cheapcarribbean and got a decent deal (we thought). Just under $5k for 7 nights including airfare and transportation and all upgrades (the excursion was separate, we purchased that at the resort).

@Sarie415:  We stayed at the Hard Rock and it was great. The grounds were huge and the weather was amazing! You will not be disappointed (unless you dont like tropical weather)
