Getting married in May, and still need to book the honeymoon! We want to do an all inclusive (preferably adults only) week in Punta Cana, but we are having some issues getting through all the reviews. My fiance and I have never taken a real vacation together, so they honeymoon is one of the few places we are actually willing to spend a bit more. Anyone have any suggestions?

@ms_lane: Hi ! I am from Dominican Republic, born there raised in NJ, so i love it when people decide to spend their vacation or honeymoon over there. It really is a beautiful country. Really nice beaches and you get so much for your money. It is really affordable. Anyways, FI and I will be staying at Excellence Punta Cana.
Excellence is an all-inclusive, adults only resort in Punta Cana. I’ve never been there before but i read many reviews and most were positive. We purchased our flight and resort package through cheap caribbean. I don’t know if you want something more luxurious ? There are TONS of resorts to chose from in Punta Cana, so you will definitely find something that meets your needs.

I have also heard great things about Excellence.
We recently stayed at the Riu Palace Bavaro in Punta Cana and it was a wonderful hotel, but it is not adults-only. I believe there is an option to upgrade to the VIP area which is adults-only. We were not bothered by children at all but maybe we got lucky! We visited the Riu Palace Punta Cana, which was an older resort but also beautiful.

I like the Melia Caribe Tropical or the Paradisus. If you can do “royal service”, no kids are allowed there!

We stayed at the Iberostar Grand Bavaro for our anniversary. It’s one of the few ‘Grand’ resorts in the Iberostar network, and everything about it was FREAKING AMAZING. The beach, food, drinks, scenery, customer service, the room, the pools, everything. It’s going to be one of the most expensive DR packages, but I felt it was worth it, and you can find okay deals on Cheapcaribbean.com.
I almost wish we hadn’t gone so early in our marriage. I feel like it’ll be hard to trump it with another all inclusive. We peaked too early in life with a vacation like that! =)
Aaaand I can’t wait to return to the other Iberostar Bavaro next door once we have kids (the Grand is adults only)–definitely not as nice and way more crowded, but if it’s half as lovely and relaxing as the Grand, we’ll be happy.
