So I HATE working out. I like being outside and being active, but I live in South Florida so working out/running outside in 100 degree heat is out of the question. I’m looking for a new workout regimen, and I’ve heard some good things about Pure Barre. Has anyone tried it/loved it/hated it? Thanks for your input!

There is a barre studio near me that has a lot of different types of classes. I tried the regular old barre- and hated it. Mostly bc i get major cramps in my calves, and you pretty much stay on your tippy toes for an hour. I ended up unable to walk for 3 days.
BUT last week, i tried a class out they have there called POUND. you use drumsticks to beat on the ground and together in the air, while doing lots of squats, lunges, floor exercises. really was cool- the music was blaring rock & hip hop, it was a lot of fun.
I personally started loving working out when i started with a personal trainer. I work with a small group, sometimes im by myself, sometimes its 4 of us. but the social aspect is just as important as the physical aspect for me. I have to want to go to stick to it. I go 4 days/week to my trainer & just started adding in a diff type of exercise 1 extra day a week (hence the POUND class). I feel amazing after working out and weight training. that always makes me ready to go back, too!

LittleMissRuca: hey there! i starting going to my local Pure Barre studio a few months ago and I absolutely love it. i’m not someone who enjoys working out but I actually crave gonig to barre if I haven’t been able to go in a few days.
It’s pretty intense and I’m not going to sugar-coat it, it doesnt get easier. The whole point is to do small movements repeatedly until the muscle exhuasts itself and starts to shake. This shaking is actually your muscle changing (so they say). Also it’s an incredible ab workout. There’s already a noticable difference in my legs, arms, and abs, to the point where my SO has made multiple comments about it and has says that he can see a difference too!
Feel free to reach out directly if you have any questions. I know it’s not for everyone, but i love it 🙂

I do pure barre 4 to 5 times a week and love it. It’s hard work but has done wonders for my flexibility. I just wish it wasn’t so expensive!

I did the Bar Method for a couple of months but stopped as it got expensive and I got bored with the routine. It does tone muscle amazingly fast though.

I looked into the classes near me because I have heard nothing but positive things about them (especially from those who hate working out), but I was blown away by the cost.

I work at a barre franchise in South Florida, not Pure Barre but similar. Barre exercise is incredible for toning and changing your body shape. It’s isometric exercise which forces your muscles to change shape rather than bulk up, leading to the beautiful, feminine, tight physique that barre is known for! Go for it, you won’t regret it!
