I am new to this and am looking for Michigan brides. We are getting married summer 2013 on Lake Charelvoix, but am originally from the metro Detroit area. I am still in the phase of working our a budget, and would love input on what you guys spent on DJs, catering, etc., as well as good vendor suggestions! I will probably be looking for dresses back home (I am from Royal Oak), so any good bridal salon suggestions that aren’t super expensive? THANKS!

@SpartyOn: hi there! i am a michigan bride as well. I still have over a year and a half to go but we have decided on the church, in Birmingham and our reception venue downtown (book cadillac). I still havent purchased my dress yet but have looked around alot. There is a really nice salon in downtown Milford, if you are familiar with that area, i have also heard wonderful things about something blue for u, in holly.

I had a very good experience at the David’s Bridal on John R near 14 Mile

I got my dress at Roma Sposa in Birmingham…I think they are a bit pricier but I got my dress from one of their sales…I bought the sample half off!! If you follow them on Facebook it should let you know when they are having their sales/sample sales. I had a great experience there!
Hello to all you other Detroit brides! I live in royal oak and my wedding is downtown at the MGM grand 🙂

- Wedding: May 2011 - The Royal Park Hotel
Although I didn’t end up purchasing a gown from them, I also had a great experience at Roma Sposa in Birmingham. My bridesmaids and I also really liked Bridal Couture in Plymouth. Best of luck with the dress hunt!

@SpartyOn: The DIOR bridal shop in Dearborn, MI on Michigan Ave is amazing…they treat you like a queen in there and prices are negotiable….they have many, many dresses and will order whatever you want from other places if they don’t have it.
As far as dinner goes….I’d expect to pay around $18 on each meal? I spent $20 for salad, chicken entree with 2 sides and dinner rolls …my friend spent $14.
Flowers: from dearborn you can go to Gada’s floral or Lama’s floral and get everything for under 1k. I had a huge wedding so that was awesome for me.
…Djs…I saw some that were $900…some that were $3,500. I was lucky enough to have a friend do it for free as a gift.
Photography: There is a lady in dearborn (she’ll travel anywhere) with awesome prices (between 1k-1.5k depending on what you want) if you want her PM me….I can’t remember her name! I can’t believe it…but it’ll come to me!

I’d also recommend the David’s Bridal @ john R. Ask for Sandy! 🙂 She was super nice and helpful! Arena bridal is nice too, (there’s one up by me at 24 mile and van dyke, and there’s also a big one in detriot I think) especially if you’re looking for the bridal “expirience”
I’m a Macomb/Utica bride who is moving to Brighton soon! 🙂 (SO. EXCITED.) But I also know the sterling heights and warren areas pretty well. (Grew up in both)

Hi I am getting married in Downtown Detroit! I wish you the best with planning. I am going to Sarahas Bridal in Mlan, MI. I will let you know about my experience there. I am getting bridesmaid dresses from Konja Bridal…can you say free alterations for the girls ( at least on A. Angelo) ?!?

Hello all my lovely Michigan ladies!! Who is loving this boiling hot weather?! (NOT ME!) lol
I got my dress from Alessandras in Warren and so far have had a great experience!
We are getting married in Kimball, a little bit west of Port Huron. (My FI is from St. Clair)
I LOVE Charlevoix! Gorgeous, gorgeous area! We’re thinking about doing a roadtrip mini-moon all the way up from the southwest coast to the northwest coast of the state and then up into the U.P. to go to pictured rocks. Charlevoix will definitely be a required stop! 🙂
Oh, and I’d say for all inclusive packages for the typical venues you can expect to pay anywhere from $45-$65 per person for the lower range. Ours is $52 per person and that includes premium bar and all taxes.
Our photographer (who I love) is out of Saginaw and extremely reasonable! His name is Brain Simmermacher.
Our D.O.C. is also AMAZING and reasonable. Her name is Tammara Kane, from Grand Jour Events. Here’s the website http://www.grandjourevents.com/

@xlittlemissbridex: Haha, this weather is so gross. I practically had to beg FI to turn the AC on yesterday because I don’t deal well with anything over 80. I live in Michigan for a reason!
I’m a Kalamazoo bride, so I don’t really have any suggestions for anyone in other areas. We have family in Traverse, though, so we’re up there a lot. 🙂

@vorpalette: Ugh, I know what you mean! I feel like I’m melting! lol my dad works in Kalamazoo quite a bit. We call it “Kazamaloo” 😉
