While reading one of my favorite magazines (Southern Living) there was a photo of several small purple glass bud vases (see thru) with different purple pansies in them.
How gorgeous it was and simple! A different twist but it made the purple have so much "oomph".
The picture isn't on their website or I'd post it. Reminds me of what we did at our wedding on the fireplace at the reception (had our mossy, large initials at either end of the mirrored mantle, and in the middle were candles and clear glass budvases with gerbera daises in fuscia).
The small bud vases were in a grouping, and they used all different purple and purple and white and purple and yellow pansies in the small, clear purple glass bud vases. Candle center, a few tealights inbetween them, and voila! A kick butt centerpiece.
