So I posted awhile ago that I was feeling guilty about asking my bridesmaids to get purple shoes. I debated on just letting them all wear black shoes, since most of them most likely already have black shoes and if they don’t, at least they are much more reusable than purple. After going back and forth, I ended up just telling them that they could wear black because I figured that’s the last thing I’m going to care about on our wedding day. (I made sure none of them had bought purple first)
After telling my lovely fiance..he said…wait for it…
“Won’t it look weird if the only purple is in the flowers though?”
..although I know this is a man speaking, he got me thinking. (darn those grooms that only speak up when you really don’t want them to.)
So now I’m wondering if I should tie in the purple in another way..
Their dresses are shades of gray, and they are wearing black cardigans. Since I am wearing a black sash, I wanted to tie in that as well.
Would it look funny/stupid if I DIYed matching shoe clips in purple for all of them for on their mismatched black shoes? Or, would it look cute?
Or can any of you think of another way to tie in purple besides flowers or shoe clips? Should I just go back to the purple shoes?
OR is my Fiance totally crazy and will it look completely fine?
Also, I found this picture..where the groomsmen’s ties match the bridesmaid’s bouquets…so I guess that could bring in more purple if we did that.
Sorry for the book I just wrote. Basically, do I need more purple other than the bouquets/bouts, and if so, how?

You really don’t know what kind of shoes they will have so I think it’d be too difficult to do the shoe clips. It’d be cute, but not necessary.
I think the bouquets/bouts will be enough for the wedding party. I’d just make sure to also decorate with some purple. You could, if you wanted, do a purple brooch for each of your BMs to wear on their cardigan. I think that’d be cute. Or maybe a purple hair accessory.

@kafir: Thanks! Great ideas!!

Maybe purple pashminas for the girls? If your wedding is in October they can double as the splash of purple you want + keep the BMs warm if it’s chilly that day!

@xlittlemissbridex: Any idea where this wedding photo was taken? Not to threadjack, but that place looks SO familiar and I’m not sure why.

@GeekChic: I was already planning on doing black cardigans 🙁 I would change them to purple, but I feel like the black will help to tie in with my black sash. That would’ve been a wonderful idea though!! Originally I was going to go with pashminas but it could potentially be pretty cold so I figured the cardi’s would be a little warmer. Thanks so much!

@xlittlemissbridex: Thanks! I have never been to Georgia but realized why it looked so familiar–that shot looks (to me anyway) just like Downtown Tulsa from the North. Weird. Beautiful wedding, though–and if you can get the guys to wear purple ties, i think it might be a neat, unifying touch.

I think you should definitely do purple ties for the men. I think that will add enough color by itself, but I like the brooch idea too. So I say either just purple ties or purple ties and purple brooches.

OKay so I was kind of in your boat. My main color was orange and turquoise was my accent color. I didn’t want to put the girls in orange because, well thats just way too much orange and they’d all hate me. BUT i didn’t want the turquoise to take over either. So I put them in champagne and made their bouquets mostly orange (MOHs was turquoise)
THEN I ended up choosing colored shoes. Two wore gold, two wore orange, and two wore turquoise. Honestly it really completed the look to have the colored shoes.
So I vote to make the shoe clips (or order them) and add them to the black shoes. I think it would really complete your look! If you want to make them easily, you can order just empty shoe clips off ebay for really cheap at attach flowers yourself. (I did that for my own shoes)
Here is how my look turned out:
(sadly the heels were all sunken in the grass, so the shoes don’t show too much in the pictures *sigh*)
