If your going to donate I would go with patene beautiful lengths as opposed to locks of love, locks of love has some questionable bussiness practices.

Yay! I’m donating my hair after the wedding too! It’ll be the second time for me. 🙂 I did my research into LoL and Beautiful Lengths, and my personal opinion after looking into it was that I didn’t have any problem with how LoL uses their donations, but you should check into it and decide for yourself!

Um, okay, advice:

At my old local Aveda salon, they will mail in the hair for you and also give you a discount if you’re donating. You could try calling around and seeing if any place near you does that!

Here are some inspiration pics I like–though I have no idea what you would like, of course! I also like to measure the 10 inches on my head to see what I’m working with, lol.

Anyway, best of luck! I’m sure it will be great–come back and post pics!!

@notbridey:  Another company to consider is Wigs for Kids.  I have donated my hair here and had a great experience. The only donate to children.

Here’s the website:

I just did it last month! I generally grow my hari out for about 2 years and then donate it, but it was long when we got engaged so it was super long by wedding time. I was so glad to chop it. So much easier. I did it just before the honeymoon (we waited a couple months) and it was the best thing ever. Also, I used Pantene, but Wigs for Kids is also good – don’t use Locks of Love.

I’ve donated my hair to Pantene Beautiful Lengths FOUR times! My hair sounds similar to yours – on the fine side and naturally wavy. One thing to note with a bob-length cut is that it will take a lot of styling to look like the Keira Knightly photos above… those aren’t the product of wavy hair just cut short. I usually just do a blow dry and quick once-over with a flat iron when my hair is that short.
