I know I'm crazy for using a q-tip dipped in water to seal my invitation envelopes! haha The instructions said only lick about 3-4 at a time and a la Seinfeld I heard it can be poisonous in high doses to lick the envelopes!  What were the ways you guys sealed yours when you had alot to do?

@bonbonisinlove: I licked them. There are many harmful things we put into our bodies daily, and dang it I like the way they taste!

I used an envelope moistener that I found in the supply closet at work.

Ha! I remember that episode. I think you would be okay, and I also love the taste of envelopes. I'm so sad that stamps are now self stick.  :(

I would imagine you would get super dehydrated though. Perhaps if you wet/dampen a sponge, it would be a little more efficient than a q-tip?

I made more work for myself and punched hearts out of cardstock, ran them through a sticker maker, and sealed my envelopes that way...I didn't want to wreck all my hard work of DIY-lining the envelopes, haha!

I'll probably end up using the same q-tip method, unless I copy pink.sequins' sticker sealed method. Cuz her STDs were very lovely :)

@Miss Godiva: Awww, thanks, dearie :)

For the record, no one noticed the sticker seals, but we did get a lot of comments on our scratch-off name/date I put on the STD cards.

I use a glue runner when doing a lot of envelopes, can't stand the taste.  I use the peel and stick regular envelopes for things like my rent check and letters. :)

Slightly damp washcloth.  We made an assembly line...my mom addressed them, I stuffed them, and my then-FI sealed them.

I, too, like the taste of SOME envelopes.  Some just don't taste good!  lol

I used a small paintbrush - like the kind that come with kids' watercolor sets and dipped that in water for our STDs.  It was great. I'll be doing the same for our actual invites.

I hate licking envelopes....  I'm horribly afraid of paper cuts on my tongue, hahaha

Ladies! Get yourself an envelope moistener! They sell them at any office supply store. :)

Some glues are quite nasty, while others are tasty. But with over 150 invites or so I think we will just use a finger dipped in a small bowl of water.

    Whatever works right?

    "a la Seinfeld" ... LOL!

This thread is hilarious, I don't want to lick hundreds of envelopes either! Nor do I enjoy opening envelopes that have been licked by someone, for that matter!!
