I REALLY want to dress up my aisle runner 🙂
I’m thinking a white runner and black swirly designs along the borders. I’ve seen a bunch of DIY aisle runner posts and it seems like everyone recommends buying muslin or another type of fabric, cutting it to the right length, and finishing the edges…but…would it also work to just use a store bought aisle runner and just add my swirly design?
They have like $20 white aisle runners at Wal-Mart, so could I just pick one of those up and paint the design?

I bought an inexpensive one on ebay and used cheap acrylic craft paint to paint it on there. I just printed the design onto paper, put it behind the runner,a nd traced it. I printed it in black so you could just barely see the outline. Then i painted away!

We are buying one of the inexpensive ones and painting on it too. I don’t think it will be a problem. Go for it!

I’m so glad I read this, I never thought of painting the aisle runner. I was going to glue silk petals to my aisle runner! The place I’m having my wedding at only allows real petals outside (and they are way too expensive!) so they aaid its ok if they were attached to the aisle runner. hopefully it turns out good!

Thanks ladies! I’m going to get a pre-made aisle runner then, and just paint my design on there 🙂

I couldn’t have an aisle runner so I made a table runner using the same idea. Pictures in my blog (under DIY):

MrsT2Bee- At the Wal-Mart by us they have a separate aisle in the craft section that has all kinds of wedding items. They have 75 ft. aisle runners I believe…maybe 100 ft?
Headuh-I will have to check that out! Thanks!
