I have moved to New York city just a few months ago and have been hunting for places for engagement shoots. I’ve read all of the posts on the topic and I’ve seen some gorgeous photos from Brooklyn (the Dumbo area??). I see a lot of posts about the Brooklyn Promenade, under the Brooklyn Bridge and the Dumbo area, so that’s where we want to go.
Although I’ve found directions for getting to the promenade, I can’t figure out where Dumbo is.
A friend of ours is an amateur photographer and is doing the shoot for free, but she doesn’t know how to get there either.
I’m hoping that some of you Brooklyn bees will be able to help me out here. Thank you!

Have you seen the wikipedia article? IT links to interactive maps and gives the streets that border the neighborhood so you shouldn’t have much trouble getting there.

Something that I’ve done quite a bit is have the couple walk over the Brooklyn Bridge and into Brooklyn – basically we get into Brooklyn by way of the B. Bridge and head north. You want to stay in the area nearish to the water but in between the Brooklyn and Manhattan bridges. So so so many great places to shoot around there! Good luck!

Prospect Park or the Brooklyn Botanical Gardens would also be really pretty, can’t wait to see the shots!

Hi! We did our engagement shoot in DUMBO and had a blast! You can take the F train to York St. to get to the general area. I believe the A train to High St also works (though it’s a little further away).

You can also walk from the Promenade north straight down to Dumbo, it’s a nice walk and you can see lots of view.
