The way a diamond is cut is important because it's what the light bounces off of. Think of mirrors. The light is suppose to hit one side, bounce off, hit another side, bounce off and shine back up. (More or less.) This link might be helpful.

the cut is very important as that helps the sparkle. check bluenile.com they have a whole guid on all the different components that go into evaluating a diamond. guy friends have found it v useful

The more facets on the diamond, the more it will sparkle! (this is influenced by the cut of the stone) I wanted a princess cut forever and then someone told me a round diamond sparkles more!!

What determines if a ring will sparkle and shine???? I know you have to have good clarity but I also heard that cut is important for the sparkle of a diamond. More info please lol i'm just dreaming about my future e-ring :D
