I say get the 2. I had a corset backed dress and there is plenty of room to work with in the bust. Half an inch will be no problem. The only thing this means is that the corset will be a little more open in the back than originally intended by the designer.
I had the same problem when I picked my dress size. I chose the size down. My dress fits great through my stomach and hips, but is about half an inch too small in the bust. If I don't lose that half inch before my alterations, they will just move the panel over slightly, so that my back is covered and there isn't a strip of skin peeking out. It is a much easier alteration than having to take in the waist and hips, especially since my dress is beaded across the hips (which would make for an expensive alteration!).
I would say the size 2 as well. The corset back should accomodate for the half inch, but even if it doesn't you can usually get a dress let out a little bit. Even letting it out half an inch would be less work than taking it in so much (and therefore less money).
I vote size 2 as well. I have a corset back dress and ordered 2 sizes smaller than I measured (because I was planning to lose weight). I didn't lose quite enough but it still doesn't really matter bc of the corset-- gives me some leway!
Is it bad that I want to say "Get thou to a bakery and eat!"? But yeah, definitely the smaller dress. I KNOW I wouldn't fit my dress with a zippered back, and yours might.

This is a complete what would you do question.. so here is goes.
I am looking at ordering a dress (kind of as a back up just in case I dont find anything at a brick and mortar store that tickles my fancy) with a corset back.
My measurements are 33-24.5-33 now heres the quandry:
the size 2 is 32.5-25.5-35.5, making it too small in the bust, yet slightly too large in the waist\hips.
the size four measures 33.5-26.5-36.5.
So the question is, do you think there would be enough lee-way with a corset back to accommodate with the smaller size with little to no alterations on the bust & hips, or would you just order the size up and have alterations done all over?
(I have a feeling that most people will say order a size up and get alterations, but I am curious if anyone thinks that a corset will allow for a half inch extra comfotrably?)
