Question about Dress Bustle

So I bought my dress at a Brides Against Breast Cancer event and needed to have some adjustments made. So I brought it to a local seamstress who had good reviews on yelp. One of the areas that needed a little fixing was the bustle. My dress already had a bustle put in when I bought it but it almost seemed like it hadn't been finished. So the seamstress said she would finish the bustle (it's the kind with all the little ties underneath.. not sure what that's called?). She finished the bustle and I thought all was good until later on when I decided to try on my dress again. I realized that when bustled, my dress still drags on the floor quite a bit. Is this normal? Shouldn't your dress when bustled be the same length in the back as it is in the front? Unfortunately I don't have any photos at this time so I can't show everyone what I mean. But am I overanalyzing this? Or am I right in thinking that when bustled, a dress shouldn’t drag?

    thanks for your help :-/

I have seen some bustles that drag a little on the floor, but overall I think it should be off the ground. If that's what you want tell the seamstress.

You're right - when your dress is bustled it shouldn't drag. Can you try tying the ties tighter?

Try tying the bows as tightly as you can. A good bustle should make your hem just barely touch the ground.

Also, did you try your dress on with your shoes? Your seamstress probably did your fitting with your shoes on in order to get the proper hem, so if you pop your shoes on it'll probably be the right length.

I did try it with my shoes. Maybe I'll try it again after tightening up the bows. I'm probably just overthinking this :-)
