We might be canceling the reception to buy a second house.
We read thru the contract and it says if we cancel with 121 days notice we get all but 10% back. We are fine with loosing that. Today I was looking at some other paper work on the FAQ it says the 1000 deposit is not refundable. The contract says NOTHING about the deposit being non refundable.
What do you guys think will we loose 1000 & 10% or just 10%

Hmm…typically it should say something about the deposit being non-refundable in the contract itself. BUT every venue I have checked out has told me that the deposit is non-refundable and then up to a certain date, anything else that has been paid in addition to the deposit will be returned in full or up to a certain percent (like your contract states with the 10%). If you have not signed a contract that specifically states that the entire deposit is non-refundable, then I would fight it! Who wouldn’t want to save $1000 if they could?

Why not just ask the venue? Otherwise, it’s all speculation on our part.
