Good afternoon, ladies! 🙂
I will start out by saying I’m really not girlie. I don’t even own foundation. And I’m terrified of makeup. BUT! I want to look outstanding on my day, and I have emailed a few makeup artists. One has replied by email and is available on my day, and another called me.
So I guess my question is, did you guys pick one artist from the get-go and stick with her? Or did you do a trial to see if you liked it first? Do you have to do a contract before a trial? The one that contacted me by email was my first choice, I LOVED their portfolio and they have a price I can live with. I also think they will have no problem achieving the look I’m going for.
Should I just stick with her? Or should I try both? Or should I see who offers the best deal and try to negotiate with the other? This is all foreign territory for me. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

@icanhearyousmile: I would reccomend having a trial. My sister was sold until she had her trial (which she paid separate fee for) and hated it. She switched her hair and makeup person 2 months before the wedding. As far as if she lost any deposits, I would think anyone who wants to stay in business would give you the deposit back. Or you can pay for trial before you sign anything
I am not having a trial before I sign mainly cause her hair and makeup people did mine at the wedding and I was sold.

@icanhearyousmile: I do make-up on the side and I would suggest trying them both. Everyone has different texture to their skin so what might look good on one person may not look the same on you. Good luck!

By the way, are there any specific questions I should be asking?

Definitely do trials before you make any commitments and if you want more of a natural look or full glam look let them know. Also, you can ask to see their portfolio of different looks they’ve done. Hope that helps!
