Okay ladies…so after my being a pain in the *ss for a very long time, Boy and I have decided to get a GORGEOUS setting, and i mean my DREAM SETTING…from James Allen and we want to have a moissanite stone put in it, (0.75ct equivalent) and my question is:
Will it make a difference if it is enhanced or not enhanced because it is under a carat?
I’ve never seen a moissanite in real life, but if anyone has pictures of moissy’s under a carat, feel free to share 🙂
PS we’re having the “surprise diamonds” replaced with our birthstones, a ruby and a pink sapphire (yeah, i know october is pink tourmaline, but i like the sapphire better ;)) opinions on that would be nice too! 🙂

@Emma1010: I have a one carat un-enhanced moissy and I totally love it, but it does seem to show some color sometimes, so if you’re trying to make it look close to a diamond, then i’d probably just go for the enhanced anyway, otherwise I wouldn’t worry about it.. they’re just so darn pretty on their own. And I love the idea of getting the surprise diamonds replaced with your birthstones- that’s such a neat idea!

I have a 1.5 c enhanced, and it looks gorgeous. sorry, I can’t speak for unenhanced, but I’ve heard that under a carat it looks fine. However, it’s only $100 to get it enhanced, so why not?

My moissanite is 1 carat, unenhanced, and I only very rarely see any coloration–sometimes on a cloudy day it looks a little more gray than usual. Usually it’s just super clear and sparkly! It probably won’t make a huge difference, but at the same time, I’m pretty sure the enhancement is not very expensive, so you might want to go ahead with it if the coloration is important to you. It’s also possible that my eye for that is not that great!

thanks ladies, i was just curious if it did make a difference! im still debating, we plan on having a long engagement because we are young and im still in school but when we do get married the moissanite will be replaced with a diamond 🙂
