This happened to me too, so I asked my MD and she said that as long as you get a positive you have 24 to 36 hrs to BD.  She told me that it didn’t matter anymore after that, if you get a negative.  Sometimes its not what you do, but its the test itself.  Those digitals tests usually do that.

The month I got pregnant, only the second time using OPKs, I tested morning and evening as soon as ovulation period was approaching.  I just didn’t want to miss it.  Just make sure to BD today and tomorrow.

@nickels:  I should clarify.  I was in my second month using OPKs, not my second test.  I have a longer cycle so my ovulation date was CD19.  I got my positive pregnancy test on CD 33 or 34, I can’t remember now, but it was a day after my missed period.

Are you also temping?  A temp increase is a sure fire way of detecting that ovulation took place.  The rise can take up to a few days to show on your chart, but it’s a good idea to keep OPKing until you see the temp rise.  That’s what worked for me.

Also, the luteal phase is the time between ovulation and menstruation.  So the two weeks or so AFTER you ovulate.  If you were to have ovulated on CD7, you probably have a shorter cycle.

It’s possible to get false positives on OPKs taken with first morning urine since it’s so concentrated, but since your positive was in the evening, then it’s probably a good sign. Most women surge in the afternoon and/or evening, so it’s recommended to test then anyway. Your surge can be very short, which is why some women test multiple times per day. Usually you will O within two days after getting your positive, but it’s not guaranteed. CD7 is pretty early to get a positive, but I’d start having sex every other day just to be sure. The egg doesn’t fully develop until about a week into your cycle, so as long as you O after that, you should be fine.
