Question about "stand in" rings

I wore my stand-in when my e-ring was sent off for resizing.

In the future, I plan on wearing it whenever my e-ring has to get sent away for maintenance and if I travel to places where I’m not comfortable wearing my e-ring and don’t want to risk it being damaged/lost/stolen.

I use mine for Travel for when I go outside the country or when I plan on doing “high activity” events (ie going to a theme park or a day at the beach) where my hands might get grubby. So it’s a mix of security (more of me being afraid to lose it than it to be stolen) and comfort.

I also use it for work sometimes because  my stand in is more of a band, so it’s less likely to get stuck on something (or even destroy what I’m working with). It’s just easier for me to work with it on.

I just bought one on black friday. I plan to use it for when I have to send my ring in to be redipped or if any work needs to be done. FI and I aren’t big on travelling, so probably won’t really use it for that purpose.

I also wore a stand-in when I had the center stone in my e-ring upgraded. I haven’t worn it since then, but I’ll likely use it whenever my ring needs to be sent away for a period of time.

Mine is just a band, and mostly I just wear it when I go for a run or to a concert (I almost lost my engagement ring at a concert once).

I am getting a new halo e ring for Christmas, the one I have now is a smallish solitare, i will definitely be wearing my solitare for work, i am a vet tech and I get poop, blood urine and dog slobber all over me all day. The halo wouldn’t be able to wear because of all the little gaps, id always think it wouldn’t be clean!

My ring wasn’t ready when he proposed so he did it with a stand In. We were in Hawaii so I liked the fact I didn’t have to worry about my ring ehile I was hiking or in the ocean. I plan on wearing it when we travel!

Where did you ladies get your stand in ring?  Just something really inexpensive?  We just went on a vacation and I left my rings at home.  I need to get a stand in..

I have a stand in ring from Berricle. I wore it when my ring was being resized and sometimes when I travel. For $40 it’s pretty nice.

SaugaBride:  I have a stand in ring on order but I only plan on wearing it when I don’t have my ering (if it is getting resized or rhodium plated etc). Even when travelling I will probably wear my ring (not the stand in).

MissBoots:  Mine is just a plain sterling silver band with a pretty small bezel set CZ. Super plain, small and inexpensive.

SaugaBride:  I wear my stand-in when I’m at the pool and/or jacuzzi.  If I am hiking or at the beach.  On vacation to Las Vegas because let’s face it when you’re drunk you are not so aware of your surroundings.  Oh if I’m going to be rough housing with my nieces or nephews.  If I have a day which I know I’m going to be claening and running in and out of the house on errands too.

Oh and I have two more stand-in rings that are just bands which I wear for work in the medical field.

It seems like I do not wear my regular set, but I do about four to five days a week.  I never wear any rings if I’m just exercising since my fingers swell during that time.

MissBoots:  Amazon, mine is super plain, either stainless steel or sterling silver, and it was $15.

I wear my stand in when I’m doing something with my hands, and to work when I know i’ll be doing a lot of dirty work.
