I would say if you’re using images to identify the table, then having the same image on both sides would be helpful. If the image is just for fun, it probably doesn’t matter, but it still might help those who get confused easily. Consistency is always good.

depending on the kind of meal you’re having, if its a buffet you could do the menu on the opposite side, or if there’s a program for the reception you could do that

I decided not to have the same image on both sides. I’m planning to have my doc face all table numbers towards the direction where people would walk and look for their table.  On the other side of the table cards are pictures from our engagement session.  I agree with meelahj though.  You could put a menu on the back or the program.

Wow, I never even thought about the reverse side of my table numbers. I just put the number on one side and let it go at that. People were all coming in the same door, so I just made sure the number was facing in that general direction.
