    I'm on the pill and I figured out I would "start" in the middle of our honeymoon. I was thinking about starting a new pill pack the week I'm suppose to take the placebo pills (skip that period)...either this month or next so that I start a week later. Is this ok to do? Has anyone done this?

    yup completely normal... i have done it a few times... like you said just continue taking the new pack instead of the placebos. (this is for monocyclin)... if you have triclycin pills where each week is a different dosage of hormones I believe there is a different way to go back-to-back so you could start that one for next month.

    I've done that many times when I was on the pill. It's perfectly fine, you have no medical reason to have a period when you're on the pill.

    @MrsElopement:  Just call your doctor and ask how to skip a period with your current BC.

    Usually you just don't take the last week of sugar pills and immediately start the next pack (moving your period one week earlier).

    You might have some spotting the first time you do it, so it's best to start "moving" your period early to make sure you don't have spotting or breakthrough bleeding.

    I am pretty sure you can :)  I did it for the first time over New Years because FI and I went on a cruise.  My placebo week was going to fall right on our holiday so I skipped the placebo pills and took the new pack straight away.  It is possible to get some breakthrough bleeding but I was fine.  I have had another placebo week since and everything was normal.  You should be good :)

    @MrsElopement:  I have painful periods so my dr told me to skip the last week of pills for 3-6 months at time. I've been doing these for several years with no issues. I usually stop to get a period when i get spotting but that is usually after 4 months.

    @Ms.BlueEyesDC:  good to know! Thanks!

    I actually am skipping this months period and possibly next too but the pharmacy would only give me this month. I know with some meds they will only refill on certain dates. Are they like that with the pill?

    If you say you are travelling they should give you plenty of stock! I would just keep taking your new pack of pills mid honeymoon! i've done it before for a trip and it was totally fine!

    I don't think it would be too much of an issue with the pharmacy, considering it's a standard procedure to toss the remainder of the pack and start a fresh one if you forget to take it for three days.  I would think the only issue might be if you go for your annual check-up and get a full year prescription at the same time, your prescription might run out before you're due for your next exam, and you'll have to make an appointment JUST to get your prescription topped up.

    I used to move my period around to avoid certain days when I was on the pill with no real issues.  I was due to have  it ON my wedding day, and considering I required peeing assistance from my bridesmaids with the full skirt... it would not have been a good thing to have other business to conduct in there.

    @MrsElopement:  That can be an issue. It is dependent on your insurance.

    If I got one pack at a time, I could only refill on the day before I ran out of placebo pills.

    When I started getting 3 months at a time shipped to me (through Medco) I could re-order earlier and allow to skip my period from time to time.

    I'd call up the pharmacy and see when you can next refill. If you refill before the date allowed by insurance, you will have to pay out of pocket for the cost of the prescription.
