This is going to sound odd, but I’m not sure who else to ask this question of other than the bees! 🙂
Anyway, next week is my 10 year anniversary with my company. They’ve sent me a link to choose an anniversary gift from. Most of the stuff is pretty useless to me (tent, luggage, vases, etc.). Anyway, there are 4 or 5 different necklaces from Tiffany’s listed in there. A few of them I really like:
However, the first two are only on a 16 inch chain, and I really don’t like to wear anything that tight to my neck. I prefer an 18 inch chain. And, the third one is an initial pendant, which I already have one from my MIL from Christmas & wear pretty regularly, so it seems kind of pointless to get another…
So, my question is….would you get one of the first two & try to find a new chain for it? Would it be possible to exchange it at Tiffany’s & pay the difference to get something else? Especially since I won’t have a receipt? Our order form does state it’s shipped directly from Tiffany’s in the little blue box, etc., so I guess I’ll have that paperwork….
I’m so bad at making decisions!

I’ve never purchased anything from Tiffany, so I don’t know if they would swap out the chain for you or not, they might, doesn’t hurt to ask! The worst that can happen is they say “no”.
Other options: You could buy a new chain, a plain silver chain isn’t all that expensive. Or get a necklace extender. Or switch the pendent onto a chain you already own.

You might be able to exchange it with Tiffany’s.
Another option would be to take it to a jeweler and have an extension chain added to the end of their chain. That would allow you to keep the chain they have with the necklace, which is distinctive to Tiffany’s, and adjust it to a longer length.

You may be able to make the exchange at the store and pay the difference which most likely wouldnt be that bad.. Or if you had a chain you could try that first. Its silver its not really going to matter if the chain itself is tiffany. But I do agree that 16″ isnt long enough I got a neclace from there on a 16″ chain and ended up switching it out!! congrats for your anniversary with the company!! happy deciding.

Definitely get whichever charm is your favorite, and then explore options for longer chains. Tiffany does have excellent customer service especially if you visit in person (they have replaced broken chains for free for me!) but I don’t know how they would handle the longer chain – whether it would be buy a new one, exchange/pay the difference, or give for free.

You can definetly get a longer chain at the store – you don’t need a receipt. Just pick the necklace you like best, after your receive it bring it to the store and they’ll lengthen the chain for you (it’s only a few dollars too).

BTW When I needed a longer chain Tiffany’s just lengthened it for me (like literally added chains to it – crazy!). It was done in like 2 days. When my friend wanted a longer chain they just switched out her chain for a longer one. Don’t know why they didn’t do that for me – but either way it’s easy and cheap!

Wow! You could just order it as it and get a different chain from like Belk or something, their stuff is usually on sale.

Wow, nice employer!
And yeah, stores like Tiffany’s have no problem doing nice things for you like that. Get the charm you most like (I like the first one myself) and go from there. Have fun!

yeah they definitely have longer chains at the actual store locations. can you buy it in person, or just online? 16 inches is their standard for some reason, and it’s so short! sometimes you can change the charm onto a longer chain yourself, but i have a few necklaces from there where the charm can’t be taken off the chain because the link is smaller than the clasp. i’d definitely either go there in person, exchange it there, or get an extension link or whatever it’s called to lengthen it…

Thanks so much for all of the replies ladies! I think I’m going to order the first one I listed, and then take it to our local store & see if I can pay to upgrade the chain there.

I had my bean necklace lengthened at Tiffany’s. I just walked into customer service, requested what I needed, and had to shipped free to my house. Within a week, I had a lengthened bean necklace. I need to get a longer chain for my Tiffany heart that my husband gave me for our first Valentine’s Day together. Tiffany’s customer service is great. Don’t be afraid to go there and get jewelry fixed from them. So easy and painless. I like the third one a lot!
