I have been engaged since January of 2010 and we have had trouble deciding on a wedding date mainly due to finances (since he and I will be the ones paying for the wedding). I think now we are getting pretty close to having a date….thinking maybe July or August. My main question is what if you don’t know the wedding date till like 6-8 weeks before the wedding (the normal amount of time that you are supposed to send out invites) Should I just try to send them out asap (when we know all the details or….? any advice would be much appreciated….

You need to send the invites out as soon as you know. But the problem is, you are going to have to make them so it might take a while to send them out. Are you sure that you are going to be able to get everything together in that short amount of time?

I hope so…..the main thing is finances…..

If you can’t afford the wedding you want, I would wait until next summer so you can have enough time to plan comfortably.

Just send them out once you know where it’s going to happen. Once you select the location, everything else falls into place. But, if sending them out will be a last minute thing, don’t plan on making them yourself. You don’t want to make things more stressful by doing that! I would keep my eyes open at Michaels or another craft store and buy their invites when they’re on sale. Then you just need to print and mail!
