Absolutely she can have a reputable jeweler re-set the stone. It is not a complicated procedure; it’s very simple.

Yup. I had a 1.4 round brilliant diamond taken out of a bezel set pendant and set into a 6 prong solitaire. It cost about $150 to have it set, plus the cost of the setting.

Your friend may even be able to have the metal from the pendant used in the ring.

This could be an issue depending on how she wants it set. We bought a stone intially that had a visible flaw but was of an extremely rare color change so this did not devalue it. The flaw ended up being a full fracture when magnified 1000x and my setting was very high tension we had to pick another stone. We’ve been told the stone can be set into a prong type setting and possibly a bezel but not the half bezel basket I have with super wide wing prongs it would have crushed the stone. I’d have a jeweler look at the diamond and decide if they can get it out of the setting and if the setting she wants is a viable option.

@TCtheBee:  I’d let a jeweler look at it. Typically resetting isnt a problem but its always good to have them say.
