While researching budget-friendly U.S. honeymoons I stumbled upon The Jekyll Island Club Hotel on Jekyll Island in Georgia. The Honeymoon package seems awesome as well as the place! Just a couple questions though: is Jekyll Island as nice as it seems online or is it awful? We’ll be honeymooning end of October/early Novemeber…are hurricanes a problem?
I appreciate any input from the locals!!!

I’ve stayed there and love it! Also St. Simon’s is nice too. If it were me, I’d break everything up by staying maybe 3 days in Savannah (about 50 or so miles away I think) and then driving down to the golden isles for a 3-4 day stay.
Also on St. Simons is the King and Prince Resort, beachfront and the historic wing is nice too! Good Sunday brunch there too. The weather might be getting a bit colder in Oct/Nov, but check w/weather.com to see what the average monthly temps are for coastal GA.
So much to do! Even a sea turtle rescue center in Jekyll. Very natural, beautiful place. Savannah I have to say, is very romantic with amazing history.
I think you’d love it!

Forgot to add, somehow that area seems to not get direct hits w/regard to hurricanes. Something about the way that area curves inward when looking at a map. I wouldn’t worry about it so late in the hurricane season. Just my .02

@bellenga: Thank you!!! I was hoping it wasn’t too good to be true. I’ve always wanted to visit Savannah as well so that is a fun idea, I didn’t realize they were that close!
