I went into the hospital the day before I was 40 weeks with contractions that were 6 minutes apart. They kept me the entire night and monitored me but in the morning I still was only dialated 2 cm. When the doctor came on after switch at 7am we talked about it and he gave me the choice of either being induced or going home for a day or 2 and see if I dialated. However the pain of labor was not something I wanted to go home with lol. DD was born at 5pm that day.

@SouthernSunshine:  I didn’t go in yet. But Sunday November 10th I go in in the evening.. I also know a girl who went in in the evening for cervical ripening because her cervix was waaay not ready even at 41 weeks! But since I’m at 34 weeks were anticipating my cervix to also not be ready. They said they will do a few rounds of cervadil/cytotec to get my cervix nice and soft before I start Pitocin. I may also have a foley bulb if the first two do not work! I thinkkkk this is fairly standard now where if your cervix is rather closed/hard they will try to start you on a softener the night before… some places admit you for that, and some places send you home with it I have seen and read on here!

I was scheduled for an induction, but the baby came two days before it.  When they scheduled it, it was for the morning (7am). we were supposed to call at 630 and make sure they had a room for us.  If there were too many women already in labor we would have been postponed without even going to the hospital.  This was a combination of our doctors policy and the hospitals.

I am going in for an induction Monday night (unless baby comes sooner)!! They check my progress and do cervical ripening if needed prior to anything else. I think for me it is doctor preference based on the cervical check, I don’t believe its a policy.
