have your ring bearer carry fake rings, and the best man hand the real ones to your FI!
Sent from my Android
my ring bearer is 2 so obviously he is not holding my ring! We are doing "dummy" rings. Our best man is holding on to them!I think it's pretty common to put an adult in charge of holding the rings. It shouldn't be a problem.
@accorn: lia22 is right. We did this at my wedding and it worked just fine. Or you can have the real rings on the ring bearer pillow, and at an appointed time your officiant can ask for the rings to be presented, at which point the real ones are handed from the ring bearer to the Best Man (who holds your ring) and Maid of Honor (who holds the ring of your spouse-to-be.)
Yeah I think usually the ringbearer has fake rings on the pillow and the best man and maid of honor have the real rings.
We tied the rings onto the pillow right before eveyone walked and when the ring bearer got to the end of the aisle our officiant untied them and handed my ring to the best man and hubbys ring to my MOH. Worked great!
I'm having a ring bearer and I DO NOT trust a 3 year old to hold rings without tripping or losing them in the process. My mom told me not to give them to the ring bearer and my FMIL said I have to give them to ring bearer. We are doing a different twist on the ring bearer pillow. We are doing this

I am native american (I won't lie, I'm not full native american). Mackinac (the place we are getting married at) Island when translated means "big turtle" because the island is shaped like a turtle. It's perfect because no one will know if the rings are inside the box or not. It's heavy and sturdy and small enough to fit into a 3 year olds hand. The Best Man will have both of our rings (since I am not having a MOH)
I agree with the other bees. Do a box/hidden carrying case for the little guy or have him carry stand-ins while the best man carries the real deal. I wouldn't let a pre-k play with my ring any other day, I don't want to risk it on the big day :-)
Usually the ring bearer does not actually carry the rings. It's a symbolic position. I don't know that I would trust my 3 yr old nephew with my wedding band! fake rings on the pillow or box or whatever you use, and the best man holds the rings.
You're going to have to work this out between yourselves as there is no right or wrong. Typically, the ringbearer is just for show anyway since the best man carries the rings and passes them over for the ring ceremony.
I had the rings tied to the Ring Bearer pillow and our Ring Bearer carried them to the Best Man who then held on to them.

How do I make this happen? Should I just have the ringbearer not actually be a ring bearer?
I have no problem with the Best man handing the rings to FI but I don't know how to do this.
