My close friend is married to someone who is an illegal immigrant. They are working with an attorney to get his papers in order so he can start applying for his Green Card. She asked me if I would write a letter of support, and I agreed, so their attorney sent me an email looking for this letter that discusses how I know them, how it would be a hardship if he couldn’t come back to the U.S., etc. Just wondering – is there anyway I can get in trouble for anything by writing this letter and signing my name to it? I’m not exactly sure how illegal immigration laws work or if I’d be considered supporting it or something. Thanks!
