Just a question regading bedroom furniture. In our new home, this is the bedroom set we had ordered for the master bedroom
My husband is looking to get me a vanity for mothers day and they have it in either black or white. The white is not in stock, will the black look terrible when paired with this set, or will it be an “Accent” piece?
What do you think?

I love the bedroom set. I definitely would not do black on the vanity though.

@OrigamiLove: so then wait it out for the white?

That’s a beautiful set, but the black is going to look very out of place if you decorate your room similarly. If you happen to have a duvet that is black and white or something like that, it could work.

@andiecandy: no our colors are very light, walls are a very pale grey/blue

I agree with the PP’s – the vanity is really nice but you should wait for the white one. I think if it were grey or a different color, it could work as an accent piece, but I think the black is too stark of a contrast.

I prefer the look of mix and match furniture, not using all one design. If you have a black and white color scheme, it would work.
Otherwise, I would wait for the white to be available if you want to stay with the matching look, or find another piece that can add a hit of color and work with your decor.

If the rest of the room wasn’t all “matchy-matchy” it would look great. But, since everything looks the same, it’s hard to randomly layer in different pieces. Also, the white might not match either – white paint can vary from stark white to creamy with all sorts of undertones in between. So that could still look weird.
Do you have an accent color that you could paint the vanity? I think that would be a better way to layer in a pice that is not white.

I think that would look very odd as the ONLY black piece in your room

I would wait for the white for sure.

It’s going to be an accent piece because it’s a very contemporary style, while the bedroom suite is a take French provincial. The colours will need to line up, because the styles are so different. Otherwise it will look just out of place, rather than being an accent.

@mrscandyv: Personally I wouldn’t go for black or white – I would choose a natural wood finish, so everything isn’t too matchy-matchy!
But I found a super cute vanity from Pottery Barn Teen (I know, I know… Kind of embarrased to tell where it’s from!) that I’m asking Darling Husband for 🙂

As much as I love black furniture I agree and think it would probably clash and you would regret it. But as Mother’s Day just passed maybe you have already made a decision!
@julies1949: this is awesome.

julies1949: Can you please, PLEAES tell me where you got this picture from? I love this vanity — the blue/turquoise one and I would love to know where to get one. Do you know who makes it or where they sell it?
