I wouldn’t if I were you. If they’ve already included the gratuity, it must be what they wanted it to be.

I personally think you do not tip on top of that, because of the added gratuity. If they do an amazing job and you want to give them a little extra, then you should but I don’t think you have to. My venue adds service charge but not gratuity so in my case we will have to tip on top of that.

I agree with jo.lee.  I would not include an additional gratuity since 10% is already included.  I was curious and checked the bill from my venue (they are also providing catering).  We are being charged 18% for service/labor and 9.75% for tax (I guess I can’t really get away from that) and then there is an item at the very bottom, under amount due, that says “Gratuity” and it’s blank.  I was not planning on tipping on top of the service charge, but maybe I should.  Sorry to threadjack, but if I were to tip, would it just be on the food cost or the entire venue/food bill?

If they do an excellent job, tip on top of that, but you aren’t required.

I would ask the question.  And make sure it is going to the people you want it to go to.  Many places keep this money.  My contract included a service charge but no gratuity.  I made sure I paid the servers/bartenders cash.

@Georgia Bee: That’s a good point about making sure it’s going to the right people.  Maybe it can be treated like other vendors, and you (general you) can have money handed out after the wedding?
