Everyone gave me such great feedback about the bustle post I made the other day that I had to post some follow ups.
First…I went to my local seamstress with my Maid/Matron of Honor. She was a little unsure about doing the “Nachos” bustle at first, but in the end, she started to get the idea. To avoid having a hem alteration done, she told me I would need to get a 3.5″ heel. She pinned the bustle and I basically paid half the cost of alterations, got a receipt and left my dress with her.
Question 1: What I want to know is, if it’s normal that she’ll be keeping my dress in her shop until my first fitting on 9/2. (Wedding is on 10/8)
Second…after I left the shop, I started looking at some pictures of my dress and I think it’s kind of…droopy. In chatting with some friends, I realized I may need to get a crinoline. Alfred Angelo never even offered this to me as an option, so I’m going to borrow 2 diff styles from friends to try with my dress. I really don’t want to go back in the shop to try my dress on again with a crino b/c while this lady appears to be very talented, she’s also not very…warm and fuzzy. She’s basically like yeah, I can do this…now go away for 4 months. LOL
The Nachos bustle is already pinned in my dress (on the inside of the fabric so it doesn’t “pull”). My question is…if I go back in on 9/2 with a crinoline to try on…is that too late? Obviously she can repin at that point, but I’m also not sure how much lift to expect from it to plan accordingly for heel height. Since I need 3.5″ to not alter the length, should I plan to get a 3″ heel? 2.5″? Should I just go back in before 9/2 to try on with a crinoline and risk being “annoying”?
Ahh I’m stressing. 🙁 Here’s a pick of the unpuffy dress to give you an idea:
