I’m going to be meeting with a caterer tomorrow for a tasting and wondering what questions I should be asking. I haven’t met with any caterers yet, so I would love any tips you may have, things I should be aware of, or just general thoughts.
Also, our wedding will be outdoors in a backyard, so I probably should ask them about kinds of equipement they will need in addition to just regular food questions. Anyone have any experience with this or thoughts they can share on this too?

I used this list – http://www.herecomestheguide.com/wedding-party-ideas/detail/questions-to-ask-when-hiring-your-caterer/ – for all the caterers that we met with. That way, I knew I would not forget anything and I had the same questions for each company, which made it really easy to compare when it came to be decision time.
I also had an outdoor/backyard wedding and the caterer did not have access to a kitchen. If this is your situation, it adds a few questions to the mix… you will want to know where and how the food is prepared, cooked, transported, reheated, etc. I was adamant that I did not want anything reheated or kept in chaffing dishes so we found a caterer that would do on-site grilling (they brought the grills) and then chose room temperature sides that could be made ahead of time. I am happy to share my menu if you would find it helpful.

Thanks @septcabride! We are looking to have a BBQ menu with some items grilled also. I would love to see your menu! Can you PM it to me, or do you need my email? Appreciate your feedback and will check out that website now.
