What’s included with your package. Make sure you know exactly what you’re getting. Make sure you know how much upgrades are. Ask for a bottom line per person price. Ask what their usual wedding timeline is. Ask if you’re allowed to go outside their preferred vendors. Ask them how long they will hold your spot without a deposit.

I just went thru all of this. Fortunately, my WP is included, and he answered most of my questions without me even asking.

Try and get everything confirmed in writing/emails. Not saying most vendors try and do dodgy things but it’s just good to have everything in writing so you can refer back to it.

Squirrelz15:  +1 to what MrsBagel posted.  I’d also write down all the questions you can think of and it can be down to the smallest details. When you do decide to sign the contract, make sure these things are in writing.

I just had a snafu with mine last week when I realized the chairs I wanted (which was verbally promised to us before we signed) was not in my contract, so now I’m stuck renting them which was an unexpected expense.

vip0802:  ouch! I totally agree with ‘in writing’ because my WP had told me a few things were included, then not put in the contract. I had the contract changed 3 times! We purchased the best package our venue offers, so my WP basically said he’s my biotch for the next year, and not to worry, but for what I’m paying pp, I NEED to know. I don’t want any surprises. I’ve maxed out my budget, and he knows I would not be OK with unexpected charges. Fortunately, he is a wonderful guy and tolerates my calks and texts 🙂
