Is your caterer the same co. as your venue? That changes things a bit. I would start by finding out how long they’ve been in business and if they’ve been doing weddings the whole time. Here’s some more:

Do you provide food tastings? Is there a charge?

What is the staff to guest ratio?

What equipment do you provide?

Do you have a full liquor license? Are we able to prvide our own liquor?

Are there vendor meals provided or is there a charge?

Is there a special price for children?

Do you provide the rentals or do they come from another company?

Don’t forget to ask if their fees include linens, china, glassware, silverware and labor.  Is all the serveware, chafers, etc included?  Ice for the bar? Some caterers include X amount of hours of labor, and then charge overtime if they go over.  Some caterers go with a flat fee.  You want to find out about any small fees they might be tacking on.  What is the service/gratuity? Is is taxable?
