I saw a few requests asking for an update about Quil, so I thought I’d add it here where people would see it.
Quil is totally a different dog. I mean, you all said he would be, but the change is INSANE. He did get sick from the place that neutered him, so there was a brief terrifying bout after the surgery, but I took him to the regular vet and he’s back to normal.
He takes naps during the day now, and I can walk from one room to the other without him launching himself at my back. He is able to focus and listen exponentially better, and he is LOVING his backpack that we take out on the trails, though I swear he’s going to figure out how to unzip the pockets soon!
He has stopped:
(1) Stealing my underwear from the laundry basket.
(2) Humping me whenever I move
(3) Licking, my god the incessant licking!
(4) Chewing on the bottoms of my pants.
Basically all of the behaviors that drove me nuts are flat out gone. He’s been going to doggy daycare twice a week, and though he doesn’t love the big dogs, he plays fantastically with the small dogs. And now that our family is being relocated to Arizona, he’s going to be coming with us, and moving into a two bedroom apartment, so more room for him!
I cannot thank you guys ENOUGH for all of your suggestions and guidance, and encouragement to keep him. He’s really my baby, and I can’t imagine not living with him, and he’s behaved so impeccably now, he’s a joy to have around.
The only negative is that he’s somehow learned to bark (from doggy daycare) so now he does it just to hear himself talk, but all things considered, a small thing!
