Here’s the playlist from my incredible lake side outdoor wedding ceremony 1 month ago.
My ceremony was held in a beautiful public park – Prien Lake Park, in Lake Charles, LA on the amphitheatre over Charles Lake. The weather was brillant, the sky was clear, and MOST OF ALL THE MUSIC…WAS…OMG..AHHHHMAAAZING – it was enchanting, romantic, hauntingly beautiful, and was everything I had dreamt of plus more.
3 weeks before my wedding my friend KATI (who also ended up being a life saver by being my day of coordinator) got me in touch with her piano friend, Jenny, who then got me in touch with her singer/vocalist friend Markie (who was the most amazing gal ever, i wished i had met her earlier in the wedding planning process) – she had worked in various facets of weddings, Performing yes of course she had done, but she had coordinated ceremonies, worked at a bridal shop, and a florist, and she was like a wealth of info and was willing to help me and answer my many number of questions at the drop of a hat!…and then Miss Markie found me a violinist friend of hers and soon my plan for a mp3 ceremony music turned into something that I had really really wanted LIVE GORGEOUS MUSIC THAT WAS UNTRADITIONAL and MEANT SOMETHING **SPECIAL** TO ME and MY FUTURE HUSBAND.
After hiring the trio, Jenny (piano), Markie (vocals), & Chris (violin)- the day following my bridal photo shoot. I took ANOTHER whole day off work from the insurance gig to focus on carefully selecting and choosing my ceremony songs- quite a task! It was hard at first..especially to envision songs that would flow and be perfect..since MUSIC..is MY FAVE PART of everything…IS LIKE the rice to my gravy..haha..(im definately a southern bride 🙂 – well soon i just started finding my favorite songs, and would google them or look them up an itunes an listen to it..and think of the emotions i would feel with the song..on that BIG DAY..and then I started looking for different versions (i.e. covers by female vocalists) or beautifully arranged instrumental versions…anywho after hours and hours..and hours..THIS IS WHAT I CAME UP W/ AND WHAT WAS USED. 🙂
– “Use Somebody” – King of Leon (covered by Paramore)
– “Sea of Love” – Phil Phillips (covered by Cat Power) – ***cool fact this singer/(also wrote this song) happens to be a guy from LAKE CHARLES, LOUISIANA!! In 1958 his Swamp-Rock song became a number #1 hit on R&B charts and #2 on US national charts…so cool huh?
