Last night my dad called me to ask some wedding related questions. Before he hung up the phone he asked “Is there any contingency plan for rain??” The answer? NO there is NO contingency plan! I am getting married in mid-July just outside of Denver. We have planned the entire wedding, ceremony and reception outdoors, no tent. There is a manor house that we could use if it’s down poring for 3+ hours but I HATE the inside of this place its decorated in the 90’s to look Victorian and its TOTALLY dated. It is also not huge and would be uncomfortable for the number of guests that we have. The outside is beautiful, it overlooks the red rocks and the mountains and we are the very first couple to have our entire event outside there. In fact we are spending a ton of extra money for it to be outside, we have market lights strung up and have additional staff to flip the space while the guests are inside for cocktail hour. I know that I obviously can’t predict the weather but I am sort of angry at my dad for bringing it up. I told him “Its JULY, i am worried about it being too hot not rain.” and he goes on to tell me that he goes to the mile high nationals every year (close to the venue and on the same day – it’s a drag race) and just about every other year it rains……..UGH why didn’t he mention this before? So my contingency plan is still to not have one, to not even acknowledge that it is a possibility. Typically in Colorado when it rains its only for an hour and it blows through so if I have to I am willing to move the time. Any other brides having both ceremony and reception outside? Are you worried? Did you have your wedding outside? If it rained was it ruined? I just want to hear your stories or thoughts!
