@Clarice: I like the idea of the different colored shoes and bouquets. Maybe the bridesmaids' dresses could be a slate grey color?
As for decor, if you keep the table cloths neutral you could continue your different colored flower theme with each table having a different hue.
Here's an idea board I found:

I love the idea of rainbows, but I like the bolder rainbow colors better. The pastels aren't working for me, as I feel like they just blend together too much, and most girls don't look great in pastels.
I love the photo of the shoes/bouquest in colors, but that would certainly call for a neutral colored bridesmaid dress. Have you thought about maybe a chocolate brown dress?
Ooo... and rainbow lanterns!

I almost want to plan another wedding and do a rainbow one!
I think it could be a vary tasteful choice. Also one that a guy would enjoy as well... this picture of the food is just a refernce for the different colors you could have with your meal. :)

I love this idea! I agree with @KatNYC2011: about the slate grey dresses. The pastel ones could work too but only depending on the other decor. You wouldn't want too much.
ETA And I think the men matching the bridesmaids woul be good too :)
@KatNYC2011 oh my gosh, that cake you found was SO cool!!! its like a million of those little candies... the ones of the strip of paper!!
@MeganTacky2247: I was just about to post that fruit kebab picture!
How about these refreshments:
I really like the second pic you posted of the shoes/boquets. I think the jewel tones look really good with the rainbow theme. Pastel colours can look way to easter like for me.
@Clarice: This is so pretty! I attended a rainbow wedding and it was very similiar to your bridesmaid dress picture, beautiful! The bride and groom were different races and it symbolized their joining, colors didn't matter. I love the idea!
My original colors were pink, purple and silver and my Fiance' voted no! really quickly, saying it was "too girlie." I kept my pink and added chocolate and vanilla and he likes it now.
I think your fiance' will be fine with it, you've done your homework. Good luck!
This thread has some great ideas: http://boards.weddingbee.com/topic/candy-land-wedding.
I also really love the idea of having a neutral dark color with rainbow-type accents. Alfred Angelo is awesome about making two-colored dresses.

@KatNYC2011: I love the slate grey colour idea and the cake
Thank you :)
@futuremrsbranch: Thank you so much. Your colour scheme sounds beautiful. I love the meaning behind they're wedding as well.
I am so stuck on finding ideas for the decor :)
David Tutera did a buttefly wedding but lots of colors

sky blue dresses for the BMs

So many ideas thank you, i also love the very grand table decorations. Would this work if each table had a different colour theme but kept very simple?

I only like the tree in this picture not the chair or table covers. But I thought if the rest was kept simple each tree could be a different colour maybe pale and just a simple chair cover with the ribbon matching the tree. What do you think?

simlar idea with these as well?
Haha i wasn't sold on the rainbow idea until i saw these inspiration boards and pictures - now i wish i'd had a rainbow wedding!!!!!
I would definitely go for the bold colours over pastels as i think the theme would be more obvious. I love the idea of having shoes/bouquets in the colours with a neutral coloured dress..
@Wonderwoman217: Me too! But I'm pretty sure Mr. Roux will lose his mind if I tried to change colours again.
@Clarice: I think neutral BM dresses with pops of colour in shoes/flowers sounds great. What about a latte or silver grey or slate grey?
I am having a multi coloured pastel wedding, and my girls are wearing something like this (apart from the green one). i suppose i could call mine a sweet pea wedding, because all the colours i am using are pink/purple/lilac pallette. and they will carry sweet peas of those colours too.

I love the idea of a rainbow wedding theme! I am interested to see more pictures!
Assuming you don't want your BMs to wear white dresses perhaps they should wear rainbow dresses and neutral shoes. Or they could wear rainbow dresses and matching shoes, if you don't think that is too matchy matchy.
Another option is to have all of your BMs wear lilac (since that is your favorite color) then have their bouquets, maybe sashes and shoes be rainbow the rainbow colors.
@Vintage-me: Yes this is the type of thing I am thinking of as well. Thank you for posting. I love the whole pastle colours so lovely. .
Unfortantally i mentioned this to my fieance and he was not sold on the idea and still wanted to keep it just white and lilac but I'm sure I could maybe sell it to him a bit more. I would really love my bridesmaids to wear the same dresses but in different pastel colours. And have this on the cake.
Anyway if my fiance really doesn't want a rainbow theme then of course we wouldn't I don't mind. But i would love hints of different pastel colours in our wedding. Found some more pictures.
I would have the cake a lot bigger though

Hehe Ignore the strange creature on top. I would have a traditional topper.

oOh My! I'm in Love !

I love the rainbow theme idea, it's one of the things I wish I were doing :) I think it would look really great if you did lot's of white with the rainbow accents
@christinenadine: Thanks glad you like the idea as well. Same just slight hints of the rainbow theme should still keep the wedding elegant and not too over the top. Glad other people like it just wish my Fiance was more sold on the idea only very brifely mentioned it once so who knows maybe in the future ... :-/ hehe
Bump! Just saw this Shania Twain music video and thought it would be some good inspiration!!
OMG! All these pictures are making me insanely happy! I love rainbows!
I think if you keep the colors soft, it can be elegant also.
Here they used the uplighting to bring in some of the colors.

My fieance propsed Saturday and I'm so happy. I need to see how he would feel about a rainbow theme wedding. I would really like some ideas to show him that won't put him off. I would love it to be very elegant and tasteful.
I thought of the idea because my partner and I have a scrap book with different pictures of us and rainbows. When ever we see one we would take a photo on our phone and send to each other. Also it turned out when we first met our faviroute colour was the same purple. So thought i could have somthing with lilac in. Would be so greatful for ideas and inspiration. Thank you.
Some ideas I thought of let me know what you think.
Okay so they're not bridesmaid dresses and it's not quiet a rainbow but i love the idea of it being pastel colours and looking a bit like this
Love the idea of the shoes and buoquet being a rainbow but wouldnt' know what colour to make they're dresses. I'm not too fond of black.
I thought that i could have the end colour of the rainbow and have say a lilac bouqet and shoes and my fieance could have that colour in his suit. As his favrioute colour is also lilac.
Cake...?
With the flowers bieng different colours?
I'm not sure what to do about decoration do I make it rainbow them or keep it to lilac. I don't want to over do it would like to keep it tasteful. Should the men keep to lilac or have a rainbow theme? Please help.
Many Thanks clarice
