Just curious if any of you ladies get random crying or that random “I’m gonna cry” feeling? I’ve been getting that a lot lately. I think it might be my thyroid acting up (doctor appt in early Apr for my 3 month blood draw to check my levels for my Hashimoto’s again), but this has never been one of my major symptoms. It happens almost every day, randomly.
We were watching a really funny movie and all of a suddent I just start tearing up and I have no idea why. Not sobbing or anything, but definitely crying. I am not pregnant and not PMSing.
This is so weird and embarassing 🙁 Besides this, I would not consider myself depressed, although I am definitely stressed. Fiance gets scared when it happens, and I sort of do too.

@pharmy: Are you on some kind of hormonal birth control? That is the most common cause of random crying that I’ve heard of. . . my roommates and friends have all said things to that effect. Maybe you need to switch pills? Sometimes a person’s body will change to not tolerate something that’s been fine for years, and all kinds of problems will crop up (at least, that’s what I’ve heard).
Probably your decision to get your thyroid checked is a good one; ask your doctor about the possibility of hormonal issues causing this as well, perhaps?

I was like that, but I’ve gotten better. I was on birth control pills at that time, so perhaps that was the cause. There were times I’d cry my eyes out so bad while driving, I’d have to pull over on the frigin highway.

Yes it happens to me all the time but it’s fleeting. I’ll think I’m about to start bawling and get sad and then it goes away. I’m not on BC so I have no freaking clue why lol

yup, it happens pretty often but never longer than a second or two. Generally it’s when I’m alone in the car or something similar. It’s always triggered by sappy songs or commercials or news stories- not sad, just sappy. I can feel it welling up inside & fight it back for a second, and then it’s all sunshine & rainbows again. No idea why, I’ve been off BC for 3 years now! It gets really annoying…. I suspect it’s worse around my flow but I haven’t really tried tracking it to find out… That and life has been super stressful lately as well…

Sounds hormonal to me.
No, I do not get random needs to cry.

Once you figure out whether you have something going on medically–it may just be that you’re stressed and emotional about getting married. (Not that you’re worried about marrying your fiance, just that getting married is a BIG deal and comes with much more than picking a dress and location…)
I’m not usually overly emotional, but ever since getting engaged, I’ve been pretty overwhelmed emotionally. I never stopped to think how much of a roller coaster this “happy” time was going to be. I recently started reading a book that has made me feel a thousand times less crazy. I literally Googled “why am I losing my mind now that I’m engaged” and came across several books on Amazon. I’ve found “Emotionally Engaged: A Bride’s Guide to Surviving the “Happiest” Time of Her Life” to be hilarious, insightful, and oh so helpful!
