If you send someone an (important!) link in a FB message, is it possible that they can look at the link but FB doesn’t mark the message as “seen?” Person claims they read the info in the link but there’s no “seen” stamp. I don’t want to be a jerk and ask them about it again if it’s a glitch but it is important that they read the link…

@worldtraveler: What are you using to look at FB? I know that sometimes on my FB app for iPhone the ‘seen’ marker doesn’t always show up. Hopefully it’s just a glitch!

Or it may depend on what they use to see it. I get FB messages sent to my phone as a text, and sometimes use a 3rd party IM program. So I imagine, especially for the text, since FB has no way of knowing when I “see” it probably doesn’t mark it seen for the other person. I’m guessing this is the case for the other person because any messages I get that way still show up as new when I log into the site. Facebook doesn’t even register to me that I’ve seen it unless I see it on the site.

@PinkElephants21: I was using my computer. I was reading through my messages and I noticed the lack of “seen” stamp.
@MrsTangerine: That’s an idea although I know the person in question has an iphone.
